About

Emerging from beneath the waves, the city of Hulhumalé remains a beacon of development for the Maldives.

Hulhumalé grew through the conjuring up of land from a lagoon situated in Hulhulé, the main International hub of Maldives. As Hulhumalé was developed as an expansion of Malé City, situated in Hulhulé lagoon, a combined name was given- Hulhumalé.

The City will acquaint a global lifestyle, focused on investing for the long-term future, nurturing the youthful talent and most of all forming new traditions for the anticipated 240,000 people.

Hulhumalé is the culmination of the island nation’s efforts to reimagine its focus towards being resilient, economically and environmentally.

The City welcomes people from all the Islands of Maldives.

Our focus on

Sustainability

The paradisiacal nature of Maldives, though it’s beautiful, is vulnerable. There is nowhere like this small Island Nation. The Dispersed Islands forming the Country are encircled by the azure blues, exposing the Island Nation to the perils of climate change. Ultimately, the Islanders are presented with a continuous combat. Hulhumalé is built with thoughtful consideration, for social, economic and environmental impact.

Built for resilience - environmentally sound transportation systems are expected to come into operation, together with the introduction of green architecture and generation of green energy within the City.

Our dream of

Creating smart developments and smarter communities

Hulhumalé is the very first City emerging as a smart City in the Maldives.

The City will introduce FIBRE OPTIC GPON network replacing the traditional cables used for the ICT services creating a higher quality of life for the residents and for the investors, a brand new attraction.

A transport master plan has also been developed which includes smart city components such as Smart Traffic Management Systems, Automatic Surveillance, ERP systems promising efficient and public transportation systems. Development of a GIS system, web applications and a dashboard is in progress which will enhance the community engagement through smart and efficient ICT solutions. The utility services grids including water, electricity, fire and sewerage systems are being reviewed to update the existing grids to smart city grids.
