Mr. Ahmed Zuhoor was appointed as the Chairman at HDC in February 2024. He has a Master of Accounting and Financial Management and an MBA attained from La Trobe University in Australia, in addition to a Master of Science in Maritime Affairs, conferred by World Maritime University in Sweden. He also undertook Marine Engineering studies in RMIT Australia and was a professional Marine Engineer with Class One Certificate of Competency issued by AMSA Australia.
Mr. Zuhoor has held various pivotal leadership roles including Minister at the President’s Office, Economic and Youth Council Chair, Governor to the World Bank, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Health, Commissioner General of Customs and Chairman of Maldives Tender Board.
He served as a Chief Engineer and General Manager of STO as well as Director of STO Singapore Maldives. During his time in Australia, he served as an offshore Chief Engineer and a Lecturer at University of Tasmania.
Mr. Zuhoor has been a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2013. He has also served as Director at Ooredoo Maldives. He served the government most recently in the capacity of CEO and MD as well as Board Director of STELCO. Since his time in STELCO, he has been self employed, focusing on running his own business.
